Vivo Energy Ghana, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, has donated 20 table-top fridges and 100 branded solar lamps to the Otumfuo Charity Foundation in support of the 4th Teachers Awards.
The donation towards the awards aims at motivating teachers from deprived communities in the country to give-off their best in ensuring good performance of pupils from these communities.
It also aimed at curbing the migration of teachers from the rural communities to the urban areas for better working environment and conditions of service.
The Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr. Fred Osoro who donated the items said Vivo Energy in line with its community investment strategy, is committed to educational excellence and will invest in communities through its three strategic themes; road safety, education and environment.
“Vivo Energy understands the value of education and appreciates the work of the Asantehene and decided to lend its support to the foundation to help it extend its work to more people from deprived communities in the country” say Fred Osoro.
The Otumfuo Teachers Award was instituted four years ago to motivate teachers serving in some deprived communities in the country.
This year’s award formed part of activities marking the 15th anniversary celebration of the reign of Otumfuo and 100 teachers from the ten regions of the country were awarded.
The awardees received a certificate, a table top fridge, solar lamps, wellington boots, rain coats among other items and an undisclosed amount of cash.
