A member of the campaign team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has dropped hints that Hajia Alima Mahama is likely to be chosen as the running mate to the party’s flag bearer.
The Women and Children’s Affairs Minister is one of three persons strongly believed to be on the list of likely nominees for the job.
The others are the Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Siddique and that of Tourism, Mrs Oboshie Sai Cofie.
Mr. Owusu Afriyie told Joy News that given the fact that the NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo is of Akan origin, it will be politically unwise to choose a running mate who is also of Akan origin.
He said it was his belief that the NPP’s vice presidential slot will certainly go to a Northern Muslim.
“It certainly will hover around Hajia Alima Mahama”, he said.
