Tonnes of commendation from enthused listeners of Joy 99.7 FM have been pouring in to the station since it was adjudged West Africa’s Radio Station of the Year 2006 on Tuesday.
The Super Hits Radio, as Joy FM is also known, won the award and two others in the first ever BBC Africa Radio Awards, announced at a press conference in Accra.
The station’s Programs Director and former News Editor Albert Kofi Owusu won the News Journalist of the Year award while the station also won the Local On-Air Campaign of the Year.
Most of the listeners, who either called into programmes or sent text messages, urged the station to maintain its high journalistic standards.
