The organizers of the ‘Occupy Flagstaff House’ demonstrations, Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance (CGRG) have hinted of plans to introduce a new campaign which will be known as ‘Red Friday Campaign’.
Executive Secretary of the group George Kojo Anti, in an interview with Citi News said “the new campaign is expected to put pressure on government to address issues it raised in its July 1 ‘Occupy Flagstaff House’ protest”.
During this campaign the general public is expected to put on red attire and red hand bands on Fridays.
He also said a topic will be introduced each week and the general public will be invited to partake in the discussions of the issues which will be raised.
The topics to be discussed will be in connection with the hardship facing Ghanaians.
The Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance (CGRG) organized the July 1 Occupy Flagstaff House protest which saw about 300 middle class income earners take to the street in protest over what they say is the worsening economic conditions in the country.
The petition included, among other things, the depreciation of the cedi, constant increases in taxes, inefficient revenue collection and the deplorable state of our roads.
Government after receiving the petition assured the demonstrators that the content of their petition is receiving the necessary attention.
However the group in its response said government’s assurance was a good step and they hoped their concerns will be addressed.
Meanwhile offices of the CGRG have been ransacked with the robbers reportedly making away with two laptops.
The executive secretary of the group said he suspects the robbers were looking for some information and data which could be relevant to them.
