The Inspector General of Police has authorized some specialized units and the Eastern Regional Command of the Police Service to investigate the cell break at the Nkawkaw police station.
Eleven suspected criminals escaped from the cell last Sunday after cutting the thick iron bars.
The officers who were on duty at the time of the cell break were arrested in a swift reaction following the escape while one of the escapees has also been rearrested.
In an interview with Joy News the Acting Head of Public Relations outfit of the Police Service, DSP Kwesi Ofori said security in Nkawkaw and its surrounding areas had been stepped up.
DSP Ofori acknowledged that though such incidents could lower the confidence of the public, the service would not cover up any officer found culpable.
The outcome of the investigations is not known immediately but DSP Ofori said the Service would in the meantime strengthen security at the various stations around the country.
