The leadership of the Foundation of Leadership Excellence (FLEX) wishes to remind all Ghanaian at this time that the hopes of many Africans and the eyes of people all over the World are resting on this Great Nation. Many people our members have interacted with across many nations of the World have expressed their pride in Ghana as a Beacon of Hope in this naturally rich continent that we have permitted other people to describe as the Dark Continent.
We wish to call on all the political parties and their leaders to commit themselves to the course of progress of the Country and be willing to accept the results of the elections once they have been declared. Rather than accuse others of cheating, they should instruct their polling agents to be vigilant and ensure that the laid down procedures are strictly followed.
We also call on the Electoral Commission and the security services to avoid any actions or inactions that will lead to accusations of fraud and provide grounds for those who would like to see chaos in this peaceful country. They should be vigilant to ensure that equity and fairness prevails at the polling stations.
We further wish to remind Ghanaians this is not the time for confusion; it is rather time for all Ghanaians to pledge themselves to the course of Peace and Unity. We call on the ordinary Ghanaian not to allow themselves to be used by the politicians for their personal gain but to be vigilant to ensure safe, smooth and successful elections.
Finally, as Ghanaians head to the polls, we suggest a few characteristics of good leaders that they can look out for in selecting the president.
Listener– who will pay attention to what the people are saying?
Empathy – who will feel the concerns and anxieties of the ordinary Ghanaian?
Attitude – who has the attitude of the servant and not to lord it over it over the people?
Devotion– who will give of their best to the task of improving the lot of the people?
Endurance – who will not give up in the face of difficulties and will move the people forward?
Responsible – who will not make excuses and blame other people when things don’t go right?
We wish all Ghanaians a Peaceful, Free and Fair Elections.
