For the past month or so former President Rawlings has been grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons in both print and electronic media.
This is quite worrying because Rawlings should have been a good and respectable statesman to whom issues of national developments could be brought to for sound advice and possible solutions. However, this has not been the case.
It has been one negative headline to another. From mayhem in Manhyia to the dreaded released hit list at present. What at all is going on? Maybe some one can help me look for some answers.
I am a very objective person when it comes to these political issues and trust me here if I say so but I sincerely believe for the good and peace of our beloved Ghana, some of these negative headlines must cease with immediate effect. Rawlings must trust those running the NDC to do a good job and support them from behind the scenes. I trust if he plays such a role of being a good statesman, he will draw much respect from most sides of the political divide. I’m not saying he should not campaign for the NDC but he needs to choose his words carefully since a lot of people look up to him as role model.
I strongly believe the NDC would have been in a better position to win elections in Ghana had it not been some of these ‘boom boom’ utterances and negative headlines. I am not surprised people still don’t believe Prof. Atta Mills would be a man of his own. There are families who still haven’t forgotten the way their brothers and sisters were dealt with by the PNDC regime but no one has brought a charge against Rawlings at least for now. It is very imperative he keeps a low profile and stop upsetting those families. He keeps complaining about petty issues at least his state is not as bad as the generals and the 3 judges that were killed under his watchful eyes.
For the good of Ghana, our politicians must learn to tame their lips and stay clear off any actions that would be a threat to national security. Someone help me extend this piece of advice to the people that matter.
Thank you.
