The Driver and Vehicle License Authority (DVLA) is to register motor cycles beginning this year, Reverend Bernard Oduro-Twum, Western Regional Licensing Officer said on Tuesday.Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi, he said registered motor cycles would be given new number plates with blue background with white letters and figures to differentiate them from number plates of cars.Rev. Oduro-Twum said the registration exercise is to help prevent "excesses in the system and particularly to stop motor cyclists from using number plates of cars". He said some car drivers were also in the habit of using number plates of motor cycles.Rev. Oduro-Twum said the registration would be done before road worthiness certificates of motor cycles were renewed. He said motor cyclists would not be issued with road worthiness certificate if they failed to register their motor cycles.Source: GNA
