The Wa Police at the weekend arrested two suspected Indian hemp peddlers, for allegedly beating Mauzu Hafiz, a 25-year-old electrician to death.
Faizal Yakubu, 28, and Yussif Iddrisu, 32, who have been placed in police custody pending further investigations, are alleged to have pursued the deceased whom they accused of stealing their Indian hemp and caught him behind the Wa School for the Blind.
According to Mr. Augustine Luguyare, the Upper West Regional Crime Officer, Hafiz was beaten until he collapsed under a mango tree.
He said one Tampuori Hamidu, a farmer, who was tending his garden close to the spot rushed to the scene and discovered that the deceased could not survive from the severe beating he had received.
He therefore raised an alarm that attracted other people to the scene and with their support the two young men were arrested, and handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, the body of Hafiz has been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for autopsy, because the Wa Regional Hospital has no Pathologist to undertake post mortems that deal with cases such as murder.Source: GNA
