British number one Andy Murray was on Monday drawn with Roger Federer, Kei Nishikori and Milos Raonic in the World Tour finals group stages, AFP reports.
The in-form Scot’s presence in Group B means he avoids defending champion Novak Djokovic, who has beaten him on the four occasions they have met this year.
Djokovic, who won the Paris Masters on Sunday and is eyeing a fourth win in London, faces Stan Wawrinka, Tomas Berdych and Marin Cilic in Group A.
Djokovic, who saw off Murray in the quarter-finals in Paris last week, is driving towards another year-ending top spot in the ATP rankings.
His lead over Federer is 1,310 points with up to a possible 1,500 available to the winner in London.
The season-ending World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena start on Sunday.
Murray bagged three titles during an impressive six-week run late in the season to book his place at the O2 Arena, but he now faces a tough test against the world’s best.
Murray has not beaten any of his group foes this year. He has played Federer twice this season, losing to him on both occasions – once at the Australian Open and later in the year in Cincinnati. He also lost to Raonic in their only meeting in Indian Wells (and trails their career head-to-head 3-1), while he has not played Nishikori in 2014, although has never lost to the Japanese star in their three previous meetings.
Raonic was beaten by Djokovic in Sunday’s Paris final. The Serb heads up Group A which also includes Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka, Tomas Berdych and US Open winner Marin Cilic.
