Two filling stations at Obogu near Juaso in the Asante-Akim South District were robbed of 1,330 Ghana cedis by armed robbers in the early hours of Wednesday. The robbers were, however, not lucky at a third station where a security man whom they struggled with raised an alarm, compelling them to flee.In one of their earlier attacks they subjected a 60-year-old man, Abdul Kadir, the station attendant, to severe beatings for giving them only 30 Ghana cedis. This was after the other station had been robbed of 1,300 Ghana cedis while a deep cut was inflicted on the forehead of the security man at the station whose name was only given as Blackie.Mr Agali Mohammed, supervisor of the station, told the Ghana News Agency that around midnight on Wednesday, Blackie knocked at his door and informed him that someone was looking for him. He opened the door and saw Blackie being held at gunpoint by one of the robbers who asked him to let him in while another stood outside wielding a gun.The robbers then asked him to surrender all monies on him which he did after which they fled into a nearby bush. Mr Agali said the case was reported to the Obogu Police who conducted a search in the community but could not find the perpetrators.Inspector George Ofori, Station Officer at the Obogu police, who confirmed the incident to the GNA, said no arrest has been made and that investigation was on-going.Source: GNA
