The Ajumako district magistrate’s court on Thursday remanded in custody three persons who posed as personnel from the Bureau of National Investigation and defrauded a head teacher at Enyanmaim.Kobena Afful 65, Kwasi Tawiah 38 and George Asante 35 pleaded not guilty and the court presided over by Mr. Kwasi Boakye Enimil ordered them to re-appear before the court on March 23 2009.
Prosecuting Police chief Inspector Emmanuel Maxwell Akorli told the court that the accused persons on March 3 2009 introduced themselves to the complainant (name withheld for security reasons) as staff of BNI from Accra.
He said they collected an amount of forty Ghana Cedis from the heard teacher to drop a case of dealing in fake currency against him.
The prosecution said the complainant after paying the amount reported the matter to the Nkwantanum Police who later arrested them and arraigned them before the court.Source: GNA
