Calm is gradually returning to Ashaiman after violent clashes between National Democratic Congress youth and operators of a lorry park hijacked by the NDC youths.
Commuters and traders Saturday fled the area fearing for their lives.
The violence was sparked by disagreements over who has the right to control the lorry park.
The NDC youth had seized the park claiming their leaders had failed to honour their promises to them.
They said while the leaders of the party had promised them jobs prior to the elections, they had not shown commitment to fulfilling the promises over a hundred days after the party came into office.
The group, calling themselves the Ashaiman NDC Task Force, vowed to hold onto the lorry park until their leaders addressed their grievances.
The operators of the lorry station however mobilised and confronted them on Saturday resulting in a standoff.
Policemen drawn from the Tema Regional police command dispersed the belligerent factions and are taking charge of the station.
The Tema Regional Police Commander, DCOP John Kudalor, told Joy News his men will stay in the area to ensure peace-loving Ghanaians go about their business without fear.
Meanwhile officials of the NDC say they will not interfere in investigations of the police in bringing the perpetrators of the crime to book.
