The man sentenced to life imprisonment in Libya for converting Libyan Moslems into Christianity said he was unjustifiably sentenced by the Libyan authorities.According to Daniel Baidoo, 35, he only received a parcel containing a Bible and Christian tracts and that formed the basis for his arrest.Speaking to Joy News’ Evans Mensah on Wednesday, Mr. Baidoo said he is not aware of the Libyan law which prevented Moslems from being converted into Christians. He contended he had seen Christian tracts being distributed at the Union Church in Tripoli and could not understand why he would be arrested and sentenced for life for receiving a parcel of Christian materials.Baidoo was given clemency, after serving eight of his 25 years sentence thanks to the Vice–President, John Dramani Mahama who intervened on his behalf. The Christian ex-convict advised illegal immigrants not to take the risk of entering Libya through unapproved channels.
