Workers of the Narcotics Control Board have petitioned government over low salaries.
The workers say they earn far less than their counterparts in other security institutions in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the 143 workforce, Head of NACOB, Robert Ayalingo, told the Interior Minister, Cletus Avoka government has failed to look at the conditions of service of his outfit.
He lamented the situation is taking a terrible toll on his workers and called for urgent solution.
On the issue of fighting the drug menace in the country, Mr Ayalingo maintained the budgetary allocation for NACOB has to be increased to facilitate the efforts in fighting the canker.
He also advocated for the amendment of the law to make it possible for NACOB to prosecute drug offenders instead of the police.
Receiving the petition, the Interior Minister said he is shocked at the salary levels of the workers.
He pledged his ministry will hasten efforts at improving remunerations for the workers.
