The New Inspector General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye has set his sight to building a world class police force through short to medium term policing plan.In line with the vision, the IGP has intimated there will be stringent adherence to the code of discipline amongst the workforce to build the integrity of the institution.The IGP made this known in an interaction with senior officers at the Police Headquarters in Accra to officially introduce himself to his subordinates.Mr. Quaye lamented the negative public perception about the police and stressed that punitive actions will be taken against personnel whose conduct puts the institution in bad light.Joy News Reporter, Bernard Saibu said the IGP will embark on an internal restructuring exercise to tap the expertise and competence of the personnel in the service, adding the police will operate at their optimum levels.Mr. Paul Quaye took over from Elizabeth Mills-Robertson who worked in an acting capacity until she was nominated for an ambassadorial position on May 15, 2009.Mr. Quaye, 56, was commissioned as Assistant Superintendent of Police into the Ghana Police Service in 1980 and rose to the rank of Commissioner of Police in 2002.He was, until his appointment, the Commissioner-in-Charge of Strategic Direction and Monitoring of the Ghana Police Service.
