In an era of perpetual darkness, Power Minister Dr Kwabena Donkor has challenged health institutions to improvise in order to prevent avoidable deaths.
Many health facilities have complained about the dire implications of the blackouts on their activities.
Most parts of the country are currently enduring a 12-hour power, 24-hour darkness schedule in a new load-shedding regime announced sometime last week.
Companies, schools, residences, have all complained about the effect of the power crisis on their businesses and lifestyles.
Hospitals have not been left out.
Some of the hospitals have recorded deaths, and officials have been quick to attribute some of those deaths to the recurrent power outages.
Speaking exclusively to Joy News' Elton John Brobbey, Power Minister Dr Kwabena Donkor sympathised with the families of deceased persons but was also very quick to hold the hospitals to account.
"It is unfortunate. My sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families. But we must hold hospitals to task.
"They must begin to manage. Almost every hospital in this country has a standby generator. What stops them from having automatic switch on gears?" he questioned.
