Coronavirus: Keta MCE educates market women

The Keta Municipal Assembly, lead by it's Chief Executive Godwin Edudzi Effah has begun mass education at various markets in the area.

According to the MCE, the decision to visit the market is to reinforce the urgency on the campaign against the novel coronavirus which has since claimed about 10,000 lives worldwide.

"About 90% of traders here are aware of the disease because of the media campaign we have been engaging in and so, almost every one of them might have heard about the COVID-19 but for the fact that the education might have not sunk well, I am in the market myself to reinforce the urgency attached to the fight against COVID-19," he said.

The MCE enjoined the traders who have knowledge about the COVID-19 to educate the market folks on the pandemic.

The MCE applauded the Information Service Department and the NCCE for being proactive in the campaign.

He reiterated the need for all to observe the directive given by the President.

He said the Assembly has formed a taskforce to monitor activities within the municipality to ensure compliance.

Mr. Edudzi Effah said the public education in the various markets and towns would continue until Ghana stops recording the COVID-19.

But a resident and a senior Journalist in the region, Silas Aidan thinks more education needs to be done.

Whiles calling on the Information Service Department to intensify education on the pandemic, Mr. Aidan urged the assembly to place hand sanitisers and veronica buckets at vantage points in the market to encourage hand washing.
