One of the patients being treated for COVID-19, in Atonsu Agogo Hospital, in the Ashanti Region, has recovered.
He was one of the people who travelled to the country early this month when Ghana started recording cases of coronavirus.
This patient is the country’s first recovery case.

He was quarantined after showing mild symptoms and later tested positive for coronavirus.
In an interview with The Ghana Report, the Ashanti Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Emmanuel Tinkorang, said: “physically, he is doing well but recovery will take 28 days according to public health standards.”
The patient, although was allowed to leave the hospital after testing negative during a follow-up, was asked to self-isolate for 28 days.
He would be tested after the self-isolation to confirm full recovery.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 132.

According to the Ghana health service, 78 of those cases are of the Ghanaians who were put under mandatory quarantine, on Saturday, when they returned to the country.

Three of the patients, who were aged and had underlying chronic medical conditions have, unfortunately, died from COVID-19.
