The existence of God has come under fresh examination on the latest episode of Behind The Lens with Queen Liz, hosted by broadcaster Elizabeth Essuman.
The episode explores one of humanity’s oldest and most enduring questions through discussions around philosophy, science, religion, faith and personal experience.
Ms Essuman and her guests examine arguments often advanced in support of God’s existence, including the belief that the universe had a beginning and therefore must have had a cause, as well as arguments based on the apparent order and complexity of nature and biology.
The discussion also considers the argument that objective morality and human values could point to the existence of a higher moral authority, while others rely on personal spiritual experiences, answered prayers and inner convictions as evidence of God.
The guests engage the subject from different perspectives, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, philosophy and reason, while seeking to maintain respect for different religious and belief systems.
A key question explored during the episode is why, if God exists, there is no universal agreement about His existence.
The discussion further examines the role of prophets, the authority of religious scriptures and the relationship between faith and reason, while considering whether Christianity, Judaism and Islam provide convincing answers to some of life’s fundamental questions.
The panellists also distinguish between truth and absolute proof, noting that outside pure logic and mathematics, many claims are assessed based on evidence and probability rather than absolute certainty.
The episode invites viewers, regardless of their religious background or personal beliefs, to reflect on the arguments presented and undertake further study of the questions surrounding faith, reason and humanity’s search for truth.
