A Civil Society Organisation known as the Independent Police Complaints Coalition, is demanding the immediate installation of body cameras on security personnel detailed to ensure full compliance of the 14-day imposition of restrictions declared by the president.
The group argues that the use of body cameras would monitor the activities of the personnel and prevent them from engaging in acts of illegalities.
In some videos circulating on social media, some security officials were allegedly captured assaulting and brutalising citizens over breach of the lockdown protocols.
Although the Ghana Armed Forces has come out to deny these attacks, the videos have attracted massive backlash and criticism from the general public.
In a statement, the group, Independent Police Complaints Coalition, questioned why security personnel would brutalise citizens in spite of the many international human rights treaties signed by the country.
The group is, therefore, asking the Police Administration to probe all cases of alleged brutalities and ensure disciplinary measures against those found culpable.
