Rachel Gow set her sights on marriage and children, but felt she wasn’t getting to those milestones fast enough. On November 1, 2014, she took her own life by ingesting poison.
The 29-year-old was, according to an inquest made last month, nearing her 30th birthday but suffering from anxiety.
She had a constant fear her boyfriend of two years, Anton Tsvarev, would leave her and the Haslingden, England home they shared.
Gow, an employee of Royal Bolton Hospital, had reportedly been struggling with grief since the untimely death of her mother, Connie, from cancer in 2011.
Tsvarev told the court Gow felt as if she weren’t good enough, believing she should have already been married with children.
Although the woman planned a birthday trip to Las Vegas, something was not quite right. She confided to a therapist she’d been researching suicide techniques.
And on the morning of her death, Gow found suspicious text messages on her boyfriend’s phone, which Tsvarev claims she misconstrued.
The pair fought, and she asked him to sleep somewhere else that night.
Less than 24 hours later, Tsvarev came home to find Gow’s body in front of the fireplace.

Gow’s death was officially ruled a suicide during the January 29 inquest at Burnley Coroners’ Court.
In a statement, Stephen Best, Gow’s brother, said, “Through all of our grief and sadness, it is essential that we remind ourselves of why we all loved her.”
“Rachel was effervescent, full of fun and laughter, and could tell a brilliant joke.”
Tsvarev added, “Rachel did a lot of [traveling] all over the world and she was very adventurous and loved life.”

“She was a fantastic person who inspired everyone around her.”
During Gow’s November funeral, friends and family covered her wicker casket with luggage tags as a send-off for her next big adventure.
