A Kenyan senator who owned up and apologised for violating a nighttime curfew has been fined 15,000 Kenyan shillings ($139, £109) or face three months in jail.
The curfew was imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Senator Johnson Sakaja was arrested on Saturday after he was found drinking at a pub past 21:00 local time - when the curfew starts.
Local media report that his lawyers argued that he was a first offender and had apologised and resigned from the senate's Covid-19 committee.
Mr Sakaja on Monday took "full responsibility for his actions and asked to be forgiven".
Kenya's NTV television tweeted a photo of the senator attending an open court session:
