Senior Presidential Advisor to President Akufo-Addo has said former President John Mahama lacks the moral right to seek re-election after failing for eight years.
Ken Amankwah argues that four years of power challenges and job losses does not give the former President the moral grounds to come back to seek the mandate of the people.
"The presidency is not an SHS examination where you fail and then go for a resit," he said.
Mr Amankwah said this at the campaign team for the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Buem constituency, Lawrence Aziale in the Jasikan District of the Oti Region on Friday.
He highlighted some of the achievements of the ruling party while insisting that President Mahama does not deserve another term because he failed Ghanaians.
"Each one of us has ambition; we have a vision, if we had the opportunity, we will become president but the opportunity comes to you once in a lifetime and you must display that zeal and accuracy. That efficiency to deliver so that when you deliver your own subjects, your own citizens will say wow, you have gone beyond the measure so you deserve another term," he said.
"But when you fail abysmally and we kick you out, with the largest exit vote possible. And then you will turn round because there is nobody of stature in your party again.
He highlighted President Akufo-Addo's efforts towards ending 'dumsor' in the country.
"We say we don't want you. You put us through misery. Today, at 4am when I was coming, the lights were on from Accra, all the way to this place. We've sat through four years of Dumsor and you want to come again, for the same thing? No," he added.
