Flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has pledged to improve the country's economic infrastructure if given the nod in the upcoming general elections.

He said his party’s manifesto is a pledge to build a robust social and economic infrastructure for Ghana.

Speaking ahead of the launch of the party's manifesto, the former President indicated that his government is about leaving a legacy.

"I run for President because I want to leave a legacy: a solid infrastructure with 100% access for all in all sectors.

"With this legacy, we can build a truly developed Ghana on a par with other level nations or advanced nations," he said.

Among other things, the NDC's programmes and policies are expected to cut through a wide scope of issues which will inform the choice of the electorate in the December polls.

"I have learnt useful lessons and I'm coming back to you together with my party the NDC with what will be a practicable strategy for laying a solid foundation for the transformation of the country," Mr Mahama explained.

The flagbearer also expressed his commitment to raising the standards in governance to ensure prosperity and development in all facets of the country's activities.

"And since I know how to do it, and the current government doesn't, I think I have a moral duty to ask for a second term.

"This is not about me, it is about Ghana and Ghanaians. This is what this manifesto is about," he added.
