Residents of Techiman in the Bono East Region have called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to extend the voters' registration exercise in the area.
According to reports, on Thursday, October 1, 2020, the last day of the registration, officials of the EC had processed and issued 215 cards to new registrants, however, several people numbering 157, turned up the following day hoping to be registered.
They stated various reasons for their appeal adding that they had expected the commission to continue the process on Friday, October 2.
Speaking to JoyNews’ Bono East correspondent, Anass Sabit, some residents stated that they were unaware of the registration exercise, other residents attributed their inability to register on illness, while others blamed it on travel restrictions.
They have, therefore, called on authorities to extend the exercise to enable them to participate in the December elections.
