Jordan Ayew admitted the Black Stars were poor against Mali and must improve to stand a chance of beating Qatar on Monday afternoon.
The striker and his teammates failed to register a shot on target in the disappointing 3-0 defeat against the Eagles last Friday.
They face Qatar, who are reigning champions of Asia in another friendly in Antalya, Turkey. Ayew is hoping for a better performance to secure victory.
“It’s a game where we have to do better. We weren’t good enough in the first game, we all know, we are all professional players and we all know we didn't well against Mali and we need to do better and at least start by having a good solid performance and after, the results will follow, " he told GhanaFA.org.
The Crystal Palace forward also urged Ghanaians to exercise patience as Akonnor, who was appointed nine months ago, is rebuilding the team.
"Let’s have in mind that we are building a new team and it’s going to take a bit of time so we need to be a bit patient. We need to make sure that we don’t repeat the mistakes that we did a couple of days ago we make sure we don’t repeat them tomorrow and make sure that we put in a solid performance to redeem ourselves,” he said.
The match will kickoff at 3:30 pm at the Mardan Sports Complex.
