Asante Kotoko will be without their captain Felix Annan for five weeks due to a thigh injury.
Annan sustained the injury in the Porcupine Warriors' 1-1 stalemate with Berekum Chelsea last Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.
He underwent a scan on Monday and Joy Sports can report that he suffered a complete thigh tear and will be sidelined for five weeks.
However, doctors are confident he could come back earlier. The injury is likely not to be recurrent because of how fit the Black Stars shot-stopper is.
It is a big blow for Kotoko, who now have to rely on third-choice goalkeeper Kwame Baah. Their first-choice Razak Abalora is also yet to recover from coronavirus.
Kotoko's next assignment is an away trip to Mauritania for their Caf Champions League opener against Nouadhibou.
They will be hoping for a positive result in the first-leg of preliminary round clash.
