Counting of ballot papers has halted for more than 30 minutes at Tafo Pankrono constituency in Ashanti Region due to a heavy downpour that forced election officials to scamper for shelter.
The count was also about beginning in many polling stations in the constituency when the rain started.
Election officials at polling stations like Central Mosque are now concerned about how to protect ballot boxes as observers also scamper for shelter.

Ballot papers were kept under trampoline tents that are notably leaking sideways.
In order to keep water from reaching the ballot papers, election officials have employed plastic materials as waterproofs.
Presiding officer at the station, Boakye Kwadwo, says he hopes the rains would soon end to enable them to sort and count ballot papers.
Voting extended at exactly 5:00pm Monday with no record of violence in the constituency.
