A Business Strategy Lecturer and Consultant has lauded the Electoral Commission (EC) for successfully conducting the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Dr. Kofi Bentil believes that the Commission conducted the elections to the best of its abilities, despite claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the contrary.
Speaking on the performance of the EC in this year’s election, Dr. Kofi Bentil told Joynews’ Samson Anyenni on Newsfile “this is not very different from previous elections."
However, "the problem was that this election was put at risk because the EC was insisting of using totally new equipment.”
"It is not excusably that today political parties with fewer resources are putting up electronic collation systems. This is arithmetic," he said.
He also added that certain mistakes in published figures could have been avoided if the Commission had a proper collation centre.
"Unfortunately, the EC was unable to deliver what they promised Ghanaians, nonetheless Ghanaians should commend the EC because they managed to put things in order even though we had less foreign funding."
He also indicated that there's a lot of work to be done by the EC to perfect its system.
