Veteran Journalist Kwadwo Agyenim-Boateng is set to represent the Bono Region on the Council of State.
The 77-year-old won the Council of State elections with 15 out of 24 votes to win the slot.
His competitors former Education, Director Dr George Adjei Henne, polled 5 votes and Paramount Chief of the Drobo traditional area, Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, had 3 votes.
A teacher, Dominic Adu-Gyimah and an Agronomist, Kwabena Boahen, who were also contesting had zero votes.
There was one rejected ballot.
In his interaction with the media, Mr Agyenim-Boateng said the Bono Region is one of the "food baskets" of the country.
Because of that, he is hoping to talk to the President as a member of the Council of State to ensure more factories are built in the region to preserve food for the country.
"Cashew is very rampant in the region. If you go to the Wenchi, Jaman North and South, they are all into it. some have even abandoned cocoa."
"So we need a factory to process cashew so that the foreigners will not come and take them cheaply at the expense of the farmer."
Kwadwo Agyenim-Boateng during President Akufo-Addo's first term represented the former Brong Ahafo Region as Council of State member.
