The Chairman of the Christian Council, Most Rev Dr Paul K. Boafo has called on all Ghanaians to use Independence Day as an opportunity to promote peace.
In line with the outcome of the just-ended election petition, the Chairman of the Christian Council urged Ghanaians to maintain and promote peace as the country prepares to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow, March 6 2021.
“More so, tomorrow 6th March, marks a very important day in our history as Ghanaians, and that is where we think that it has come at the right time for us to be looking at the way forward that will promote the peace and the development of Ghana so that generations unborn can come to enjoy,” he said.
He also asked members of the church who are also affiliated with the opposition to accept the outcome.
This follows the verdict of the Supreme Court after close to three months of sitting. On Thursday, March 4 the apex court gave its verdict on the 2020 election petition filed by the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama.
The seven-member panel of the apex court in a unanimous decision dismissed the petition stating that it has no merit.
