The first female Ghanaian President of Federation of African Engineering Organization (FAEO), Ing.  Carlien Bou-Chedid and the President of Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), Ing. Alexander Leslie Ayeh, have paid a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo.

The two were accompanied by the Chairman of the Engineering Council of Ghana, Ing. Abbey-Sam.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce Ing. Mrs. Carlien Bou-Chedid, the newly inaugurated 5th President of FAEO to President Akufo Addo. The team also took the opportunity to introduce Ing. Ing. Carlien Bou-Chedid briefed the President about FAEO and the fact that it represents engineering organizations on the continent. She also informed President Akufo Addo about FAEO goals, in particular, the intention to harmonize standards for engineering education practice and goods.

The President of GhIE, Ing. Leslie Alexander Ayeh, who is also the President-Elect for the WAFEO, told President Akufo Addo that, as part of his terms of reference, he is to harness the potential uplifting of the image of West Africa.

He informed the President that he has been trumpeting the Ghana Beyond Aid across Africa because he sees it not only as a Ghanaian agenda but a continental one which should ensure the positive change on the continent.

President Akufo-Addo congratulated Ing. Carlien Bou-Chedid for her new role as the President of FAEO. He also congratulated Ing. Leslie Alexander Ayeh as the President-Elect for WAFEO.

He assured them of Government’s backing of their tenure and assigned the Deputy Chief of Staff, Fawaz Aliu to liaise with Ing. Ayeh and Ing. Carlien as an assurance of the governmental support of their new roles, which he described as good news and a big responsibility.
