Family of the slain police officer whose death occurred while protecting a bullion van, Emmanuel Osei, wants the criminals behind his killing arrested immediately.
According to the family, who made the call when the IGP and some top police officers went to commiserate with them, arresting and prosecuting the perpetrators of the act will serve as a deterrent to others.
"I want Justice for my brother, Justice is what is needed. Because dying in the line of duty is not easy. He was serving the nation and he passed on. So, what is supposed to be done must be done, and what must be given to him must be given."
"That's what we are pleading for now. Leaving my mother behind, and our old boy behind, my father is on pension, my mummy is a trader and she's the one taking care of my mother," sister of the late police officer told JoyNews' Manuel Koranteng.

Another family member of Emmanuel Osei, lamented about how their kinsman left without a goodbye while on a national duty.

Meanwhile, the IGP James Oppong-Boanuh has said the full might of the Ghana Police Service has been invoked to hunt down the armed gunmen who attacked a bullion van on Monday.

The robbers who shot and killed the police man and a hawker are still on the run. The third victim, driver of the van, is currently battling for his life at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

IGP James Oppong-Boanuh assured the family of the absolute commitment of the Service to bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.

The IGP has also been announcing a raft of measures being introduced to prevent a recurrence of this incident. Key among them is a June-30 ultimatum for all banks to procure armored vehicles for transporting cash.
