Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Law Faculty, Justice Abdulai has expressed his support for the LGBTQI+ bill.
He said any form of objection that will be raised against the Bill is ungodly.
"I say unequivocally that I am absolutely in support of any Bill that seeks to criminalise Lesbianism, Gayism and all its other forms of sexual expressions so long as they are illegal and do not seek to express the God-given human gender on the day of birth.
"However, anything short of that, I am completely against it. It's sinful, unnatural and it's ungodly. To this extent, I am completely in support of the Bill and of course if there are indeed areas that need retuning, I am available for discussions on that," he told host, Joseph Ackah-Blay on The Law Show Sunday, July 25, 2021.
Mr Abdulai intimated that the Bill is a fantastic one because it is seeking to illegalize any form of sexual orientation that is not ordinary.
On June 29, 2021, the Ningo Prampram MP, Samuel George, disclosed that a new private members Bill against LGBTQ+ was set to be laid in Parliament to criminalise not just the activity, but its promotion, advocacy and funding for the act.
At a Parliamentary Christian Fellowship meeting, the NDC MP said that it will become criminal for anyone to produce any promotional material that supports LGBTQ+, for TV/radio stations to show content that supports the cause and any individual or body to support it.
“We have established clearly that homosexuality is not a human right it is a lifestyle choice. So, we respect the human rights of practitioners of homosexuality to get a free and fair trial, however, their sexual orientation and choices cannot be deemed to be a human right and this is contained within the 1992 Constitution.”
Before Sam George made the revelation, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Bagbin had already given a gist about the bill said it will be passed before the end of the year.
