Yendi MP, Farouk Aliu Mahama, has received the prestigious League of African Development Students (LEADS) Africa’s Patriotic Personality Awards for the year 2021.
The award was conferred on him by the leadership of the League.
According to Ochekwu Morgan Ocheche, president of LEADS-Africa, the awards were in recognition of Farouk Mahama’s commitments to Africa’s quest for development, Human Capital Investment, facilitating employment for Ghanaians, and self-reliance.

According to LEADS, the award seeks to recognise role models and emerging brands in various sectors.
“We found in Farouk Aliu Mahama Educational Care Fund (FAMEC-Fund): a leading philanthropic and Human Investments Foundation in Africa and its founder; Farouk Aliu Mahama-an erudite legislator and MP representing Yendi”.

The leadership of LEADS further observed that the vision of FAMEC-FUND, which supports building humans capacity for self-development and self-reliance,” is in tandem with the continent's quest to enhance the lives of people.
It indicated that the awardee has by all ramifications shown that he is a model all youths should emulate.

In response, Mr Mahama thanked the team for finding him worthy of the award and pledged to work hard to contribute his quota to Africa’s development.
“I will work hard and will never give up in life; I am a go-getter. It’s not going to be the end of that. This award will encourage me to do more and help better the lives of our patriots," he said.
He added, that to achieve more awards in the not too distant future.
Mr Mahama also used the occasion to charge young politicians to position themselves for leadership in the future, insisting networking and selflessness is the key to Africa’s development.
