A former chaplain for the International Physicists Association, Very Reverend J.B. Danquah, says it is high time Ghanaians paid attention to nature and resorted to water conservation.
He expressed concern over the continuous deterioration of water bodies in the Ashanti region through human negligence.
The retired Methodist minister refers to water bodies such as the Subin, Oda, Asuoyeboah, Dichem, and Bonka Agyei as some rivers destroyed over the years by human activities.
Most of the water bodies have been turned into dumping sites, contaminated with toilets, rubbish, and other waste products.
"Those who intentionally dispose off refuse into water bodies should desist from such acts," he said.
Reverend J. B Danquah wants to collaborate with the Manhyia palace, political figures, and environmentalists to initiate a project that will protect the environment.
He also wants stiffer punishment for environmental offenders to serve as a deterrent to others.
"I’m also here to fight that cause as my main agenda, we only need all hands on deck," he said.
