Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, has disclosed that government is in the process of acquiring a bigger aircraft for presidential travels.

He stated that the move to get a bigger fit-for-purpose aircraft was part of a cost-saving measure on the travels of the President and other key state functionaries.

But government's decision to obtain a new aircraft has been strongly opposed by the minority, led by North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah and some members of the general public.

Meanwhile, after its 12-day investigation, the three-member committee set up by the Interior Minister to probe circumstances leading to the clash between Police cum Military personnel and the irate youth of Ejura that led to the death of two persons on June 29, has made public its report.

The report noted that there was no justification for the Police to send a Riot Vehicle (water canon) to the cemetery where the late social activist Ibrahim “Kaaka” Mohammed was being buried.

Also, the Committee recommended the immediate transfer of the District Police Commander of Ejura, DSP Philip Kojo Hammond and stated that Kaaka's death was probably caused by a family feud.

In total, the Committee has made 10 recommendations for government’s consideration.

After its report, some members of the public have lauded the Justice Koomson Committee while others including the family of the slain activist have registered their displeasure.

Finally, the Director of Special Projects and Investor Relations at the Office of the Vice President has denied allegations that details of the $2billion Sinohydro agreement between Ghana government and Chinese state-run, Sinohydro Corporation Limited in 2018 were hidden from the general public.

In response to such an allegation by Ranking Member on Parliament’s Finance Committee, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Dr Mutaka Alolo stated that all information, be it the guarantee system were all laid before Parliament for consideration and approval.

But Dr Ato Forson insists government should render an unqualified apology for its inability to fast-track the completion of the projects.
