Forced vaccination of adults doesn’t sit well with me. It’s definitely a breach of the 1992 constitution. No government or persons should be given that power.
This Covid-19 vaccination has not been demonstrated to slow transmission rates. In fact, viral concentration in a throat swap of the vaccinated and non-vaccinated persons was the same.
It means, both the vaccinated and non-vaccinated continue to spread the disease at the same rate. Again, both the vaccinated and the non-vaccinated continue to test positive and get infected over and over again.
To this point, there is no difference between the vaccinated and the non-vaccinated. The only advantage of being vaccinated is that it reduces the risk of severe illness and death.
People have the right to live and to die and to determine what happens to their bodies so far as they are above 18 years. As far as spreading the infection is concerned, there is no difference in transmissibility between the vaccinated and the non-vaccinated.
The only thing that slows transmission is the curve flattening measures such as hand washing, social distancing etc. Finally, it’s clear from available data that this vaccination available will not lead to herd immunity as we would have expected, however it reduces the severity of illness.
If we have a vaccine that slows infection and hence transmission, I will be the first to say everyone should take it. For now, there is no real science backing forced vaccination of adults. In fact, it’s a needless violation of our fundamental human rights particularly the young who have no comorbidities.
From the letter, it’s clear the concern is with the increasing number of positive cases at the airport. With the information above, how does forced vaccination fix this?
Also, the work is embarking on voluntary vaccination. If transmission and infectivity are affected, should we not be getting lower positive cases?
The science is clear.
