Coastal Development Authority CEO, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, is unhappy about politicising sanitation-related challenges in the country.
He stressed that keeping the environment clean should be seen as a collective effort and not only the preserve of government.
Ahmed Shaib, who was addressing the media on the sidelines of a press briefing at the Information Ministry, recommended the reintroduction of sanitation officers who in the past were able to deal drastically with sanitation defaulters.
"If I had my way, that is all I will be executing. People should be made to understand that you don't have to litter, and when you do so, the law should deal with you.
"And then we should stop politicising everything. Someone is picked for littering the environment, and it becomes political," he stated.
He, however, announced that his outfit has launched a Clean Beach Campaign to deal with filth along with coastal areas.
"That's why we are pushing the agenda on the Clean Beach Campaign, and we are not doing this by ourselves. We are doing it with several other partners.
"We have two that have come on board, Cape Coast University Centre for Coastal Management and Coastal Conservative organisation."
