The president of the KNUST branch of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON-KNUST) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Collins Nana Baidoo is calling on the party executives to resource the association to deliver its mandate.

He believes they are well placed to educate the citizenry on government agenda.

Speaking at the TESCON-KNUST youth forum and freshers’ orientation he noted their incompetence puts the party in danger of exiting the seat in 2024.

“If we are unable to explain to Ghanaians the current situation we find ourselves, irrespective of how we are performing in terms of roads, health, education and all other sectors of the economy, we may not be able to retain power come 2024

“TESCON as the intellectual wing must be well resourced to give meaning to why it was formed,” he said.

Mr. Baidoo announced a bursary meant to supplement the various scholarship opportunities for members.

He revealed a committee has been set up for the purpose.

“In the days to come, TESCON-KNUST will be launching a bursary to supplement the various scholarship opportunities implemented by the government for its members. This would go a long way to subdue the financial challenges some members face on campus,” he was optimistic.

President of TEIN-KNUST, Theophilus Berchie encouraged his outfit and TESCON to come up with a national policy to ensure sustainable development of the country’s youth.

He was hopeful such a move would be binding irrespective of the government in power.

“I’m pleading that the TESCON and TEIN will come together with a development plan, a youthful policy that will help mother Ghana.

“I’m very confident that any political party that will succeed will have to implement such a policy,” he said.

The forum was under the theme: “reenergizing the youth and TESCON to break the 8.”

It brought together students and various executives of the party to deliberate on TESCON’s role in ensuring victory in the 2024 elections.

Ashanti Region's NASARA Coordinator, Salim Mansuru Bamba urged the freshmen especially to be mindful of the political ideology of the party.

He says it is crucial in their political career progression.

“We may have ministers or CEOs etc. who don’t know the political ideology of the party. There are a lot of people who go through vetting and want to be leaders of the party but they don’t know the party’s political ideology.
