Civil Engineer, Abdulai Mahama has decried the economic hardship currently being experienced in the country.
According to him, it’s “mind-boggling” how the prices of goods and services keep soaring by the day.
“You would go to a shop to buy an item. You get out of the shop and within an hour you go back and the price has increased,” he said.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show, he shared a personal experience of how the prices of a product he intended to buy for the construction of a project had shot up significantly between Saturday and Monday.

“We went to the market on Saturday to purchase some tiles. We couldn’t buy the whole quantity so we decided to come back on Monday to get the rest after our initial purchase. We even issued a cheque and we were told that if the cheque is not cleared on Monday by 10:00 am there’s a likelihood of an increment and truth be told the price had increased twice between Saturday and Monday,” he recalled.
He also lamented the high cost of food commodities and said Ghanaians can no longer put up with the high cost of living, hence, the call on government to address the current economic crisis.
“Even with the foodstuffs, it’s just mind-boggling how we are having the discrepancies…and you can’t fathom what’s happening. And something ought to be done otherwise a lot more of the up-and-coming businesses or middle-income earners can’t put up any structure,” he added.
