Newly-promoted Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC have announced members of its board to steer affairs of the club ahead of their maiden campaign in the top tier.
According to a statement released by the club, the board will be chaired by Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the owner of the club who doubles as the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations.
Also on the board is the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament of Suame, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu. Former Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament of Odododiodio constituency, Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, is also a member.
Other members of the eight-member board include, Joseph Cudjoe, George Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, Kingsley Antwi, Aziz Abubakar, Foriwaa Agnes and James Abu.
The members of the board will be expected to use their expertise and experience to get the club to be a mainstay in the Ghana Premier League.
Awuah, the board chair and majority shareholder, had earlier indicated his desire to make the club a force to reckon with in Ghana and Africa at large.
Nsoatreman earned promotion to the top-flight following victory against Tamale City in a Division One League Zone 1 playoff game at the Accra Sports Stadium after both sides could not be separated on points at the end of the season.
The club also announced its new technical team to be headed by former Black Stars player, Mohammed Gargo. Gargo signed a three-year deal that will see him be the head coach until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Speaking on the decision to appoint Gargo, the communications director of the club, Kofi Joel Gyempeh, said the former Black Stars player has the ability to develop players and has the experience to help the club in the top-flight league.
"[After promotion] we realized we had a vision and a mission to lead Nsoatreman Football Club to compete keenly in Ghana Premier League, win the trophy and for that matter compete in CAF competitions like the Champions League and the Confederations Cup.”
“He [Mohammed Gargo] is a developmental coach who has the ability to develop players. We’ve seen how he developed players like Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who has moved to Sporting Lisbon. He has also been a national team player and also played in the Italian Serie A and some Ghanaian clubs. So based on these credentials we realised he has the maturity to control the dressing room and lead us to the promise land.”
Former Asante goalkeeper, Isaac Amoako and Nana Kwame, who will act as the goalkeeper's trainer and team doctor respectively, are also members of the new technical team.
Nsoatreman Fc will know their first opponent of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season on Tuesday, July 26 when the fixtures are released.
The new 2022-23 Ghana Premier League season is expected to begin on the weekend of September 9-12, 2022.
