Three communities within the Kwadaso municipality of the Ashanti Region have benefitted from the Government of Denmark's Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure project.
The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah and officials from Denmark and UNICEF inaugurated the projects in the municipality.
According to the Minister, "Government would ensure that the necessary partnerships are forged and existing ones strengthened to enhance the resilience of Ghanaians to public health outbreaks and to reduce the impact of outbreaks, with emphasis on ensuring equity for the most vulnerable".
In February last year, the Ministry for Sanitation and Water Resources and the United Nations Children's Fund, with support from the Government of Denmark, launched a programme to extend Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services to selected health care facilities and schools in some municipalities in the Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Areas.
The two areas were selected based on evidence from the Ghana Health Service that these were epicentres of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the Kwadaso municipality, three communities have benefitted from the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services programme.
A mechanized borehole has been provided for the Agric Nzema community to enable residents access potable water easily.Â
At Apatrapa, the health facility has been provided with a modern toilet facility.
At Ohwimase, the public basic school has been provided with a newly built child- friendly sanitation facility.

A ceremonial inauguration of the projects was held at Ohwimase, during which dignitaries present commended the Government for moving closer to reaching the Sustainable Development Goal 6.
The UNICEF Representative in Ghana, Anne-Claire Dufay highlighted the results and positive impact of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services programme in three municipalities within the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area.

The Ambassador of Denmark, Tom Norring outlined some of Denmark's support towards Ghana's justice delivery system.
He disclosed that they have "procured and distributed 420 electronic tablets to the Ghana Health Service's Community- Based Health Planning Services, CHIPS compounds for the E- tracker app".Â
These tablets, according to him, are used to improve Community Health information systems in seven districts in Ashanti and Greater Accra regions.Â
