Residents of Bonkwaso in the Ashanti Region's Ahafo Ano South West District have cut sod for the construction of an ICT laboratory for schools in the area.
When completed, the facility will include modern learning educational materials, educational software, and tools to assist in teaching and learning.
As a result, students will be able to use the platform to hone their digital skills.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony, Mr. Nkesah Ababio Asare, district Director of the National Youth Employment Agency, emphasizes the importance of practical ICT education if the country is to achieve the desired development.
According to Mr. Asare, technology is a major driver of development in the world as well as Ghana at large, attain its digitalisation agenda, a lot of efforts should be made in ensuring practical technological education.
"Technology is the engine that drives global development and it has become a major driving force for the growth of sectors in every aspect of life, whether it is education, health, or financial services."

He says to ensure a digitalized economy, it is critical that everyone in the country understands what ICT is about in order to improve their knowledge and advance Ghana's technological agenda.
He also called on the private sector to support in the provision of infrastructure and services to complement government's efforts.
According to him, the collective support of all institutions will help the economy develop more quickly.
Francis Kwaw, assembly member for Bonkwaso electoral area in the ahafo ano south west district, used the the opportunity to invite the district assembly to come and support projects he has initiated in his community.
He noted that ICT education will benefit communities, so non-governmental organizations should intervene to achieve his electoral goals.
