The District 9 Council member of the City of Los Angeles, USA, Curren D. Price Jr. has paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
During the call on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at former President Kufour’s residence at Peduase, in the Eastern Region, Curren Price seized the opportunity to indicate his readiness to partner with leaders in Ghana towards empowering the youth.
According to him, the success of every nation hinges on the youth's readiness to learn, relearn, and unlearn from their leaders.

He said that Ghana has a promising youth who will take up the reins of authority and power in the days to come.
"The youth of every nation and for that matter Ghana, has a pivotal role to play in deepening democracy, promoting peace, order, and stability, and most importantly, availing themselves to be used as instruments of change.
“It is therefore imperative to keep the youth in mind when running any form of government. Proactive youth have quite a number of added advantages for the growth and development of every given nation in the world," he said.
Partnering with youth leaders in Ghana

The Councilman emphasized the importance of working with Ghanaian youth leaders to get to know them better.
He said that this form of partnership is expected to bring together all youth leaders in Ghana under one umbrella to better equip them with the contemporary skills and knowledge needed to set the 21st-century Ghanaian youth apart from the rest of the youth in the world.
"The importance of collaborating with Ghanaian youth leaders in agriculture, humanity, hospitality, education, and health, among other areas, is important to me. This stems from the human resource capital the youth of Ghana can boast. Ghana is one of the few African countries with a promising youth front in all sectors of the economy.
"I believe if we engage in calls for a partnership to accelerate development in Ghana, the numerous problems like unemployment, flooding, armed robbery, prostitution, and the like will be brought to the barest minimum,” he explained.
Marketing Ghana positively to the world
Curren Price touched on marketing Ghana to the rest of the world, stressing the use of digital platforms for achieving this all-important purpose.
He opined that if every youth in the country can use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and the rest to share the numerous tourist sites, food items, culture, and heritage with the outside world, many individuals, particularly from the African Diaspora, will troop in their numbers to experience and be part of the history of the land of their ancestors.

"The digital platforms are not just for entertainment purposes. We can, as a matter of urgency, build a stronger network with other African diasporas if the youth of Ghana leverage the opportunity that Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn have in terms of marketing Ghana in a positive light. Let's use our individual accounts to push this agenda and see the results in the years to come," he stressed.
Root-related education
On his part, former President Kufuor called for a calculated agenda aimed at educating the African diaspora to come and give back to their motherland.
He said that the African diaspora has contributed in important ways to the economic development of many countries, particularly the United States of America, as well as to social, cultural, and political innovations of global significance.
"Why not tell them the African history from the era when slavery was prevalent to this time? We can do it together, and it starts with our willingness to tell the history to our sons, daughters, and friends of African descent. Conscientizing them on the need to embrace the African culture will go a long way toward reminding them of their roots,” he mentioned.
Humanity and accountability
The former President said that humanity is central to everything. He said that once you appreciate that humanity is the be-all and end-all, you will also appreciate why the government should be democratic and accountable, stressing that sovereignty really belongs to mankind.
"If, say, through an election, you have the opportunity to become President and you refuse to be accountable as though you were brought from the skies to come and dominate, then it won’t be nice at all."
Humanity is central, and that is how I do my politics. Besides, if you treat the citizens well, they will treat you well too," he advised.
