The Ketu South Municipal Assembly led by the MCE, Maxwell Lugudor, has enforced the reclamation of lands used for sand winning in the municipality.
The companies involved in the reclamation are, according to the MCE, to make sure that all lands used for sand winning are thoroughly reclaimed to pave way for other intended projects that might be undertaken by the Ketu South Assembly.
According to Mr Lugudor his major concern is for the lands affected by the sand winning to be reclaimed so as not to pose any danger to the residents, especially children and the elderly.
Mr Lugudor noted that he together with his men and security personnel are always on the ground to monitor and regulate the activities of the various companies involved in the sand winning activities.

Mr Lugudor noted that sand winning activities if not regularised and monitored can have adverse effects on the communities, especially destruction of farmlands and properties.
He noted that coconut trees are being nursed to be planted on land reclaimed some 5 months ago, adding that same would be done in Kpoglu where the current reclamation is ongoing.
He warned that anyone caught involved in illegal land winning activities in the municipality without the requisite documents would be dealt with without fear or favour.
Mr Lugudor urged all persons involved in the land winning activities to make sure they have the legal documents to operate before any project starts.

A director in one of the companies involved in the reclaiming of the lands, Kelvin Wonder Modzaka noted that it is necessary for the lands to be reclaimed at least every four months so as to be easy for them to undertake other projects.
Mr Modzaka noted that they are working according to the rules and regulations of the Minerals Commission and hence the need to make sure that all lands affected by sand winning activities are reclaimed.

He also noted that, aside the reclamation, they are also involved in other social activities to help the various communities.
