10 private university owners have agreed to form an association to champion the interest of private universities in Ghana during a meeting at the Nana Araba Otua Hall of Winsconsin International University College.
The founders, owners, chancellors or representatives of some private institutions after discussing some concerns and challenges facing private universities reached the consensus to form an association that promotes their interest.
Chancellor and founder of Wisconsin International University College, Paul Kofi Fynn expressed the need for the association highlighting that Vice-Chancellors and workers approach the government and other bodies without the knowledge of the owners of the university.
“They (Vice-Chancellors) approach the government for their own interest and this is affecting private universities so we decided that the owners and also the chancellors will meet and also form an association.”
He added that the agenda for the day’s meeting was to agree to the formation of the association.
“We all have agreed to set up the association. The name, logo and constitution will be discussed on January 27th and officers will be elected to lead the association,” he said.
Deliberations were made and participants volunteered in the formulation of a name, constitution and logo for the association to be presented on later date.
The institutions involved were Data Link Institute of Business & Technology, Kings University College, Garden City University College, Jackson Educational Complex, Regent University College of Science & Technology, Nobel International Business School, Wisconsin International University College, All Nations University, MountCrest University College and Spiritan University College.
The group have scheduled to meet again in the afternoon of 27th January, 2023 at the same venue.
