Ghanaian musician Jehoshaphat Kwabena Eshun, known in showbiz as Skrewfaze, has told a story of how he nearly got poisoned three days ago.
The ‘Gbalagazaa’ hit maker told Andy Dosty in an interview on Hitz FM on Monday, February 27, 2023 that some four unknown men he met at a drinking joint wanted to take his life.
According to him, the incident happened after he had gone to play basketball and decided to take a drink from the joint upon his departure.
“I went to play basketball, so after I finished, I went to buy a drink from a joint and I’m that solo type. I’d like to sit alone and do my thing. So I was in my nose mask to prevent people for making me out, I just bought my drink,” he said.
He continued that just when he had poured about half of the drink [into the glass], he heard four guys shouting his name.
Skrewfaze indicated that after the guys had said a lot of nice things about him and his music, he heard some of them in a fight with a khebab seller behind him.
“When I turned back to see what was going on, as soon as I turned and I came back again I could see they had put something in my drink,” he said.
The singer added that when he wanted to take a sip of the drink, the guys told him to wait for a while. He explained they probably told him so, so that the drug they had put in the drink would dissolve well.
The ‘Maabena’ singer said he then took the drink to the washroom and poured it away. After that, he saw a dreg of the drug on the floor. So he picked it, just to show to the guys and ask which of them put the drug in the drink. When he returned, they had all left the place.
The Afrobeats and reggae/dancehall musician is currently out with a song titled ‘Downfall.’
