Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Wosemawu Blay, has commended the government for what he says is its adept handling of the economy.
He asserted that the economy is currently in a better state than it was under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Blay, also the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), emphasised in an interview that the governing NPP has managed to sustain its social intervention programmes despite the global economic challenges.
Blay expressed confidence that Ghana’s economy will witness substantial recovery by 2024.
"The economy, under the NPP's stewardship, has shown notable improvement regardless of the hurdles we've faced. Our initiatives like NHIS, Free SHS, road construction, and others have not been hindered by the events in Ukraine. We're adapting and making progress. Hence, by 2024, the economy will exhibit positive signs of recovery."
"Just as Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia acknowledged, we've encountered difficulties and continue to do so. However, despite these challenges, we're performing well and demonstrating resilience. People should hold onto hope. We recognize that times are tough, but we haven't mismanaged or shown incompetence like the NDC," Mr. Blay emphasised.
